Important Update – Victim Impact Statements Needed for Sammy Graham Jr.
Our son, Sammy Graham Jr., was murdered on November 12, 2020. After more than 5½ years in and out of court, the final sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 11–12, 2026, in Sault Ste. Marie.
We are asking anyone who knew Sammy and has not yet submitted a Victim Impact Statement to please do so as soon as possible.
The deadline to submit a statement is May 28, 2026, but we kindly ask that you try to have it submitted by Wednesday, May 27 at the latest.
How to submit your statement:
• Email it to: samgraham@shaw.ca
• Or send me a private message and I will provide my mailing address, or arrange to pick it up
You have options regarding court:
• You may choose to read your statement in court yourself (please let us know ahead of time if you wish to do this)
• Or the judge can read it on your behalf
Whatever you are most comfortable with is completely fine.
What should your Victim Impact Statement include?
Please write from the heart, in your own words. You may include:
• Who Sammy was to you and what he meant to you
• Special memories you shared with him
• How his murder has affected you emotionally, mentally, or physically
• How this tragedy has impacted our family and the Sault Ste. Marie community
• Any ongoing effects you have experienced since November 2020
Anyone affected may submit a statement — not just family members. Your statement can be short or long, typed or handwritten.
We are also asking people to please come and show support in court on June 11 and 12. We hope the hearing will only take one day, but please try to attend if you can.
Come and witness for yourself what our justice system has done to our family and hear the sentence being given for this cold-blooded killing.
Despite what we believe was overwhelming evidence and proof of first-degree murder, the charge was reduced to manslaughter. We continue to wait for responses to complaints submitted to government officials and are also awaiting updates regarding the appeal of the judge’s decision.
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted a statement, and to all those who continue to stand with us in seeking justice for Sammy. Your words, support, and presence mean more than you know.
Sammy is missed deeply every single day by all of us. The pain in our hearts will never go away.
He lost his life while trying to protect his girlfriend from her own twin brother.
